The 4TH INTERNATIONAL EURASIA FILM FESTIVAL & the 45TH ANTALYA GOLDEN ORANGE FILM FESTIVAL REVEAL PART OF THE LINE-UP & STELLAR NAMES
The International Eurasia Film Festival and Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Turkey's biggest, the longest running and the most influential film event and its international gateway are getting ready for the newest editions which will bring some of the finest pictures from around the world as well as stellar names and globally renowned creators of the seventh art to the festival valley in Antalya.
The Festival is to kick off October 10 and curtain down on the 19th. The International Jury will be presided by Paul Verhoeven, the famous director of many landmark pictures such as "Basic Instinct", "Showgirls" and "RoboCop".
Majid Majidi, 2008 Golden Bear nominee with his latest movie "The Song of Sparrows", Cameron Bailey, co-director of Toronto International Film Festival are the two other members of the jury who will vote for the "Best Film" and the "Best Director" categories of the competition section.
Open to films of either European or Asian origin (and Eurasian co-productions), the Competition Section of the Eurasia Film Festival will be presenting two awards: 75,000 USD for the "Best Film" and 25,000 USD for the "Best Director". "Seven Days" by Ronit and Shlomi Elkabetz, which opened at the 61st Festival de Cannes is one of the films to compete in the competition section.
Ms. Esra Even, the director of the International Eurasia Film Festival revealed a part of the festival program, confirming Laurent Cantet's Palm D'or winner "The Class"', Sergey Dvortsevoy's Un Certain Regard winner "Tulpan"s, Ari Folman's shocking "Waltz with Bashir"s; Jia Zhangke's "24 City"s and Matteo Garrone's Cannes 2008 Grand Prize Winner "Gomorrah"s participations at the 4th International Eurasia Film Festival line-up.
42nd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival's honorary award recipient Korean director Kim Ki Duk's latest "Dream" will also meet the festival audience as a part of the 4th International Eurasia Film Festival.
The 4th International Eurasia Film Festival will open its curtains with the world famous Turkish director Ferzan Özpetek's newest picture "Un Giorno Perfetto". Özpetek previously presided the national jury of the 42nd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and "Un Giorno Perfetto" is to open at Venice Film Festival next week.
The 4th International Eurasia Film Festival program also features Michael Winterbottom's latest "Genova"; Mike Figgis' "Love Live Long" (some scenes of which have been shot in Istanbul); "Babel" scriptwriter Guillermo Arriaga's U.S.-set directorial debut "The Burning Plain," and "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea," the newest feature toon by anime auteur Hayao Miyazaki.
Marvelous actress Joan Chen is another stellar name who will be walking the red carpet in Antalya.
The 4th International Eurasia Film Festival is elated to announce world famous pop star and artist Madonna's documentary "I Am Because We Are"s being a part of the festival line-up. Produced, written and narrated by Madonna and directed by Nathan Rissman, "I Am Because We Are" had premiered at the 7th International Tribeca Film Festival and the 61st Cannes Film Festival and gathered extensive applause for it's strength of narrative.
The traditional "Scriptwriting Workshops" of the Eurasia Film Festival will be once again on the move at the 4th edition of the International Eurasia Film Festival. Olivier Lorelle, the President of the French Writers Guild, owner of the 2007 César Award in "Best Scriptwriting", the screenplay author of "Indigenes" - the French candidate at the Academy Awards - and the guest of the 3rd International Eurasia Film Festival will meet with both professional and aspiring screenwriters, film students and cinema enthusiasts in a series of workshop sessions to be held in the Festival Hub.
More names are about to be announced as the festival on the beautiful Turkish Riviera gets closer.
